John Yeager, CPA
As managing partner of Yeager Sherburne, CPA, LLC in 2004, Mr. Yeager has provided accounting, auditing and taxation consulting services to both individual and corporate clients in the Miami area for over twenty five years. Mr. Yeager is often called as an expert witness in litigation matters where his firm provides forensic accounting services for estates and trusts, business evaluations, lost wages and profits, domestic relations and other matters including arbitration and mediation. Mr. Yeager also acts as the part time Chief Financial Officer of several of his clients and provides business and tax consulting on an ongoing basis.
Mr. Yeager received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1983 from Spring Hill College. An eagle scout, 1978, he is involved as a merit badge counselor for Troop 10 in Miami Florida. He has been an ice hockey coach, player and referee over the past 15 years. Mr. Yeager is an avid outdoorsman, fishing camping and hiking, and is currently a member of the Everglades Conservation and Sportsman Club.
Frederick Baskin Sherburne, CPA
Mr. Sherburne was born in Tallahassee, Florida. He graduated from Darlington School (1963), served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1969. Mr. Sherburne attended The Florida State University, was member of Beta Alpha Psi, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree (major in accounting) in 1972.
He joined PriceWaterhouse & Co. (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers) and received certification by the Florida State Board of Accountancy in 1974. While at PriceWaterhouse, he served as a Senior Auditor and Senior Tax Consultant. His clients included companies in the industries of real estate, banking, professional sports franchise as well as private individuals.
Subsequently, Mr. Sherburne joined with former PriceWaterhouse alumni and practiced in the South Florida area with clients in real estate development and related sectors, professional services, not-for-profit organizations, and litigation support. Mr. Sherburne’s primary responsibilities were the oversight of the Tax Department and Litigation Support Department.
In 1988 he semi-retired from public accounting and joined Consolidated Capital Corporation and Subsidiaries as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. His responsibilities included compliance matters with the United States Securities & Exchange Commission, liaison with the outside auditors, patent and trademark application and compliance matters, as well as oversight of the financial area.
Mr. Sherburne returned to public accounting in 1993. He currently provides specialized accounting and tax services for attorneys. These services currently involve matters involving Office of Appeals (Internal Revenue Service), United States Tax Court, and Federal Bankruptcy Court. Additionally, clients with various examination issues with federal and state agencies are provided forensic services.
